Bringing history to life

Our Learning & Education service offers a huge variety of curriculum-linked, facilitated workshops for school pupils of all ages as well as school trips, sleepovers, teacher training and bespoke projects. Our handling collection, Access Artefacts, is one of the most comprehensive heritage and educational services available in the country.

Teacher-Led Sessions

Bring your school group for a great learning experience at Newstead Abbey or Wollaton Hall & Deer Park. Following a warm welcome, you’ll have access to our site for the day as well as a base for your bags and coats, a space to eat your lunch and a tour for just £5 per pupil.

Access Artefacts

Access Artefacts is the handling collection for Nottingham Museums and contains objects covering a range of themes, including social history, archaeology, geology, industrial history and the natural sciences.

Digital Resources

We offer a number of digital resources for use by visitors & teachers.

These Include: Materials kindly provided by the University of Nottingham, in relation to the ‘Nottingham’s Legacies of Slavery’ project, which illuminates and explores the backgrounds of several locally commemorated individuals and prominent places (including Robert Smith, Eric Irons and George Africanus) that are connected to the transatlantic slave economy.
