This portrait of Frances, Lady Byron shows the poet’s great-grandmother at the time of her marriage in 1720 to William, 4th Lord Byron. The spinnet and folio of Orpheus Britannicus, a collection of songs by Henry Purcell, suggest that she had an interest in music.
