John Levers spelled his surname without an “e” although the machine name is spelt with an “e” to help the French. Thus, the text needs to be changed as follows – John Levers invented the revolutionary single tiered net lace machine in 1813, and lace of this kind, patterned with or without a net background, is still around today. This rare wooden framed machine was made by him, in Nottingham, between 1828 and 1840.
