Antiquities_Image_12
NCM 1914-1

Thought to date from 2000 to 640BC, this statuette of an elite Egyptian official is made of red porphyry. Egyptian portraits express a dignified balance with little or no emotion. It was bequeathed by John Henry Jacoby, a furniture lace manufacturer who was a great antique collector.
