This silver-gilt butter cooler was made in 1817-18 by the outstanding English silversmith Paul Storr. It is designed as a coronet, the container for the butter hidden behind an elaborate cast, chased and pierced decoration. The domed lid is ‘frosted’ silver and the interior silver gilt.
