1730-50 Belonged to Miss Jane Kirkby, who lived in an apartment of Nottingham Castle from the early 1790s to 1825. Made of ivory silk embroidered in gold and silver with flowers, leaves and berries. At this time some aprons were not a practical cover up, but a fashion item worn by a wife or prospective wife to signify her expertise in household management.
